Dental Emergencies & Trauma

Oh no! Your child has had a dental emergency or trauma, what should you do? The answer is simple: call us!

Regardless of the severity of the emergency, do not hesitate; please call our office or after-hours emergency number immediately. We are available 24/7 to walk to you through the best steps to resolve the situation, whether that be an emergency visit with the dentist or a simple at-home fix.

Common dental injuries:

  • Bitten lip or tongue
  • Problems with braces or retainers
  • Broken, chipped, fractured, or dislodged tooth
  • Knocked-out tooth
    • Permanent tooth: Rinse under running water, but please DO NOT touch the root. Reinsert the tooth in the socket and hold in place by biting on piece of gauze. If not possible to reinsert: put in glass of milk, saline solution, or saliva, and call us immediately!
    • Baby tooth or not sure: Call us!
  • Trapped debris that can’t be removed with dental floss
  • Toothache
  • Broken jaw
    • Go to the emergency room immediately!
